    This is about that time Putin tried to join NATO but was told “no”.

    Also that’s not the Chinese flag.

      That makes far more sense, and there is definitely egg on my face, I was very confused. My apologies for my initial comments tone, it really wasn’t necessary.

      that’s not the flag of the russian federation either!

      IIRC the USSR did try to join NATO in its beginnings, not super hard since they knew very well that they’d be turned away

        The RF did try to join, Putin was a part of that movement. After the nationalist movement in Russia, there was an attempt to normalize relations with the west and join the imperialist circle now that they had become capitalist, but this fell through.
