Read more grimdark. The real world still seems shit, but you appreciate having all your teeth and a warm bed and not getting stabbed too much

Happens to me after finishing a TV show close to my heart, too. Or a deeply immersive video game!

I primarily read horror, so this doesn’t affect me. I can’t remember a single novel I’ve read, even when it’s from a different genre, where the book world is more desirable than the actual world.

Bleak stories with substance are soothing.
