The proposal would raise an estimated $150 billion over a decade if current compensation patterns continue.

Probably should do something about the various loop holes that allow them to access wealth without paying taxes. The collateral backed loan thing is a big one.

Does it include bonuses? Elon doesn’t actually get paid a salary for being CEO of Tesla. He gets stock as bonuses if he meets goals. They just fought to pay him the largest bonus in history at $56 billion (more than the company has ever earned in profit). They also just setup a new bonus for him that would pay out $1 trillion in stock to him… That new package would put his pay at 1,000,000:1 to the average employee.

how fucking stupid do you have to be to introduce the “pay oligarchs less” bill to the oligarch cheer-leading squad

I think it’s more about showing the American public that their elected officials are bought and paid for. An attempt to wake up the masses and show them who they should be raging against. Bernie has spent his life trying to blow the whistle on the wealth disparity that has been destabilizing the country

Yeah, I don’t disagree with you there. Bernie has spent his life, in vain, trying to do decently by his constituents and the empire’s populace through political means. It has never worked, and now we are deeper in fascism than ever in living memory.

It’s because he cares and that is a good thing. It’s a small glimmer of hope in a dark world. I appreciate his efforts. Sometimes a small spark starts a fire
