    That’s essentially how the Roman calendar was named for six out of the 10 months:

    • Martius: (Mars)
    • Aprilis: (from aperire, “to open”)
    • Maius: (Maia, goddess)
    • Junius: (Juno, goddess)
    • Quintilis: (Fifth)
    • Sextilis: (Sixth)
    • September: (Seventh)
    • October: (Eighth)
    • November: (Ninth)
    • December: (Tenth)
