I lived through that period and I still hate big coats/double-breasted suits. I don’t like skin tight either, just fitted as well as possible.

Something I never really understood in X Files is that Scully was always wearing heels. How is that practical when treading through forests, fields and caves? She should have been given a sensible wardrobe with flat shoes!

I remember reading in passing about some biker chicks, from when it was supposed to be men’s occupation. They got an advice from someone older: that men would hardly believe that women belonged on bikes at all — so to properly dunk on men, these gals needed to ride well while also looking good. Cue high-heel boots and the whole fashion outfit.

It might be a bit of a similar situation with Scully, seeing as she was a trailblazer character.

High heels were originally worn by men when they rode horses. The pronounced heel helped lock into stirrups.

I imagine heels also help lock into motorcycle pegs.

I had one of those. It would always get shut in my car door. It was a pain at the office because it was longer than most of our coat hooks. And, it looked like I was from the '90s.

I’ve always loved wool coats and it makes me sad that they’re just not terribly practical.

Check thrift shops. I’ve picked up a couple of them that way for $10-15 USD. People don’t really want them anymore so they end up donated when found in a closet.

I really miss the early 90s. I really miss the show. Well, to be more accurate, I really miss when the show was new. I have it all on my Plex server, so I can watch it whenever I want. But I really miss going to school the next day after watching the latest episode and talking to all my friends about how cool it was… And I remember everyone having gigantic shoulder pads…

I also really miss when smoking was cool

But I gotta admit, I very much enjoy legal weed now, but I don’t know if having Trump is president for the second time is worth it. I never actually had trouble getting weed when it was illegal. and back then, getting acid was easy and it was cheap. And it was everywhere.

After the Columbine shooting in '99, trench coats were seen as evil and started going out of favour real fast. My friend who loved his trench coat was so sad he couldn’t wear his coat over to his friend’s place (who still lived with his parents)

I remember that. I had a really nice Burberry trenchcoat that I got in, like, 94 or 95. Suddenly, I couldn’t wear it anymore.
