They’re super hard to find, so he likely was out in the bush and got too close to elephants that thought he was a poacher and killed him. Many stressed elephant populations attack any human they see with a gun, even rangers, due to trauma. Also, this guy was a trophy hunter, with a house full of numerous dead animals.
So, in short, this guy needed therapy, not another trophy.
