I’m on xfce, so the dragonized desktop isn’t an issue for me. Thanks for the thoughtful response. If I start running into any issues at some point I’ll look into switching over.
XFCE is generally fine and lightweight, but you may be shooting yourself in the foot there since it won’t support gaming related features like VRR or HDR. It is still on X11. If you don’t use Wayland features it may be fine though.
