Catholics profess the Nicene Creed, which is enough for many Western ecumenical counsels to recognize the faith as part of the larger family of Christianity. I could understand not wanting to be seen as keeping company with them, but explaining that to people is going to be an uphill battle unless you’re talking to some really fundamentalist folks. Otherwise, you get hit with the same broad brush everyone else gets.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I don’t understand why that is (other than that these other ‘churches’ might not be true Christian’s either, since reciting that chant isn’t technically biblical (no biblical figure stated that that was necessary, look into sola scriptura)
