Is AI causing the same effect on hiring in the rest of the world as it is in the US? I wonder if it causes less worry in other countries because those countries have better worker protections, and are not experiencing the same level of AI eating their jobs that we have here.
Only 3/47 countries reported “net fears” of AI. US is the most negative. It could be about threat to people’s own wages, were low ones in their country, can see more opportunity for AI to improve their own opportunities, whereas high wage countries see it as replacement threat.
In general the economy is bad and big corpos, especially multinational US ones have been laying off people by the tens of thousands, so yeah, it’s everywhere and I don’t know that AI is really to blame.
