There is still a dearth of evidence compared to 100+ years we have for smoking tobacco but the more we learn the less it’s possible to ignore how it’s turning out. Remember for decades that tobacco companies white washed cigarette smoking and even tried to make it sound therapeutic.

Non-smoker current vapers had higher incident risk of respiratory symptoms (relative risk, RR=1.90; 95% CI: 1.28–2.83) but statistically non-significant risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) (RR=2.53; 95% CI: 0.96–6.67) compared to never users. They also had lower incident risk of respiratory symptoms compared to non-vaper current smokers (RR=0.75; 95% CI: 0.64–0.89) and dual users (dual use vs vaping, RR=1.26; 95% CI: 1.03–1.55).

Do you guys ever read what you link or what? We consistently know that vaping is bad for respiratory health but better than smoking, it’s very well established at this point

And in another one of those links it explains that we really don’t know yet. It hasn’t been long enough to gather all the data. But please continue to cherry pick whatever supports your claim.

E-cigarettes may have the potential to benefit adults who smoke and are not pregnant if used as a complete substitute for all smoked tobacco products.

This sentence in the last link that you included contractics the suggestion that vaping is just as bad as smoking.

I think there is also a specific use for cigarettes in that fashion, in any case cope harder. Vaping is bad for you.

The original comment said “vaping is just as bad as smoking” but the links intended to support that claim said vaping is a better substitute than smoking. Better doesn’t mean healthy, it means less bad.

This seems like an opportunity to learn something, but instead you choose to cry, “cope harder” to someone that tried having a conversation in good faith, and doesn’t even use nicotine products.

The original comment says that “As we learn more vaping is turning out as bad as smoking” not “vaping is as bad as smoking” those two statements are not equivalent. My point, more eloquently stated and harder to mis-represent, would be that one shouldn’t assume vaping to be a healthier alternative before we have all the data and really know especially when we do know that vested interests have mislead public opinion on the use of nicotine products in the past.
