I worked at IKEA as a teenager and some summers as a student. We spend most of the down time and breaks discussing where we would like to study and which jobs we had applied to. My manager was very encouraging and helpful at suggesting fields to study/work at.
The wasn’t hell or anything, just super uninspired and boring.
I once quit a job after 2 hours of my first day because my roommate called and told me that the job I really wanted called to tell me I got it. So I said Adios, and left.
That’s a great story. Love it
I worked for Amazon for 4 hours and realized they were absolutely a horrible company to work for and made everything unnecessarily micro-managed. I left and said “I am over qualified”.
I quit many jobs by not showing up and I done what you have at least 60 times, sometimes without even having another job. And I am waiting for the state to approve my license so I can get the job I want and get the hell out of the one I have now.
Sucks if didn’t have a family to support I already quit.
Yup, I’m there now.
How long were you at your present job before you started looking?? I still remember when I took I job that I hated to pay the bills and from day one was looking for another job
Been here for over a decade at this point. The first five years were awesome. Then we got bought by PE.
I feel your pain brother. I’ve watched the long painful slide from PE acquisition.
Where do you work?
Software company, decently big but not global, cornered a certain niche in the market. Can’t really divulge more without risking my employment.
Lmao no company is checking lemmy and can connect it to your ID
I’d think so but they did once find my Reddit handle, so I’m not taking any chances.
Dude you made a full face/body video of you cranking it onto your employee id, how did you expect to not get caught?
What how, were they spying on you or did you accidentally reveal it somehow
I bought a batch of business PC’s from a foundered business back in 2010 for cheap, to flip and sell on Craigslist. They were supposed to come wiped, but almost none of them did. I wiped ‘em/reinstalled the OS, but before I did, I got into a few of the user accounts and found that basically all the machines had been used for in the past few months was job hunting.
If the business is going belly up, chances are all the employees knew months before it was “announced”.
Yup. You got it.
I overheard two of our warehouse workers debating whether the place was purgatory or hell
Yep, pay sucks and managers are control freaks.
You mean now?
Left there before the wave of layoffs hit. Love where I’m at now. Don’t settle.
That’s everywhere. I get well paid (higher than most others in my industry), have annual bonuses & raises, and plenty of paid leave, but I’m always looking.
I just resigned from there lol
Every day I start my day checking the classifieds. Having a look at what other options are out there is a requirement, not an option. If you don’t, you risk missing something better.
Most efficient system.
