  • Just to be very clear, the DNC leadership is antagonistic to our (I assumed) shared goals.

The Democrats are obviously what needs to be supported in a 2 party system, so regardless of the DNC antics, the sacrifice for not choosing them will be more severe, and they know that.

I’m saying this all to say, absolutely support a progressive candidate if you can in the primaries, but when it comes election time, fall in line.

Also, there is a big problem where Mamdani is supremely clever and fast on his feet, having practiced every comeback a million times in the shower, ready to let them rip on command.

At the federal there is no one with that level of natural charisma or wit.

That’s something important to point out.

  • I’m not remotely entertained by shot like this and find it weird people are. It’s a weird sort of cope exactly like the meme is portraying. People are hurting everywhere because of the regime and you’re here laughing it up like we dun won it.

I hope Mamdani does well because he’s going to be under a magnifying glass and behund a wall of anti person propaganda.

Hell have to exceed what any mayor should have to be able to do and even then the media will call him mid.

    This is not a cakewalk.

  • This is very important. Too many people think policies that help the middle class help them, and its like, bitch, you do not own a house. You are less than 3 months worth of paychecks away from being on the street. You are not middle class.

Most people aren’t middle class anymore.

When politicians say middle class, its almost always so they can appeal to rich people while phrasing it as applying to you.

    You are working class.

Just about everyone here is working class.

Working class is the median class.

  • The harms and atrocities that come from dairy and eggs are arguably worse than meat itself

Certifiably cap, just from the scale of it all. Meat production has a non insignificant amount of environmental impact.

Dairy does too, but meat, you need more animals to kill.

and the former industries drive the latter to some extent

    This is exactly backwards

Vegetarianism is neither ideologically or functionally different than any other form of animal commodification.

This is so absurd on its face that I don’t think you’re reasonable enough to bother arguing with, and don’t think anyone reading this will think you are, so I’d just be wasting my time.

  • The rhetoric in here…

People, third parties will kill your chances. That is a fact. This is true in all first past the post/winner takes all systems, but especially the US one where the parties can just sandbag each other and do nothing, meaning the conservatives win.

Secondly, you may like to make some guillotine memes, but lets be real. You’re not that guy. You aren’t planning some secret spec ops assassination of the crew behind trump. You didn’t do it for any of the lead up, and you won’t do it now.

Thirdly, if your progressive sweetheart (and believe me, I’d prefer them too), got into the white house, you very same people would quickly get angry at them and say they aren’t doing enough because you completely fail to understand your own system and this very next point.

If you actually want to see a turn around, it will be long, boring, slow and unfun. You will not get big results in 1, 2, or even 3 terms. It doesn’t work that way.

You not only have to keep democrats winning, but also have to slowly flip enough seats to progressive politicians within said party that they significantly change the parties voting patterns and leadership. Its not just that either, you have to get enough of the population to vote for people, a lot of whom you will hate, that they get a super majority in the senate, at the same time as they have a simple majority in the house, and at the same time as they have a president. Only when all 3 of those things happen simultaneously could you possibly even hope to have the types of changes we all want to see implemented implemented.

There is no other way within this system. Its built to be slow and has more inertia than you can imagine. You’re not about to uproot that system, so you have to understand it, even if you don’t like it.

  • If everyone was idealistic about every aspect of life, we’d all commit suicide very rapidly.

You might think this is super important, but to someone else, the reach of mainstream social media might be worth it for they care about an issue they feel is more important than yours that needs attention, or just straight up focus on other things.

You a vegan? You have solar panels? You buy clothes that you are absolutely 100% sure comes from fairly paid people the whole way down the line? You buy a fairphone? You using a linux pinephone? You… Its never ending.

Purity dramatics like that of your comment arent actually helpful and just demoralize people who are likely there with you 99% of the way generally.
