  • I’d say take the most effective action you can to keep a Republican from power. Whether it’s voting for a Democrat or not voting at all, taking some other action. Because despite being better than Republicans. That’s a low bar, and establishment Democrats are still a solid part of the problem in their own right.

Though I would hope many learned the lesson of hyper focusing only on democrats for a problem shared between the parties or more indicative of Republicans. When Democrats are unfortunately the only group that can keep a republican from power. The situation inside Israel would have likely been the same under Harris as Trump. But the situation outside, venezuela, canada, greenland, iran, Europe, Libya, etc etc etc etc. Would have been very different and probably better for all.

The establishment leadership of either party isn’t interested in understanding why they lose. They’re just going to chase whoever won. Which is why they spend so much time catering to fascists that vote regularly and not to progressives that will almost never vote for them out of principal. Democrats don’t care to understand that the fascists won’t vote for them. Simply because they are Democrat and the fash supporters have been indoctrinated to reactionarily hate them. There is no amount of outreach that will actually be able to reach those people no matter how hard they keep chasing. But they will keep chasing those that vote.

  • How do you find such endless shit takes?

I don’t care for Piker because he has a tendency to glaze authoritarians etc. But he’s not speaking to those of us in the 50+ demos anyway. Piker regardless of what you think of him has been out in the streets at protests and pickets. He’s gone to Cuba to deliver aid. And by boosting groups like PV, he and other streamers like Vaush are doing exactly what you accuse them of not doing. Progressive Victory does the vetting and advocacy, they bring them the audiences. So far it’s gone well. And that’s the way it should be.

Does Piker say inflammatory and often stupid things to drive views? Absolutely. But then most of the bigger streamers do. Those like Kulinsky or even KC locals like the Vanguard included. I kind of wish they didn’t because it makes it tricky to suggest them to others my age etc since it’s such an alien tone to most. But again they aren’t speaking directly to us. They’re speaking to younger generations, on their level. Finding success with new media even as the old media many of us olds are familiar with is dead and rotting.

OpenWRT. It’s got a slight learning curve. But if you want something guaranteed to do what you want while still being upgradable. It’s the solution for you. You can find pre-made Hardware that will run it. Or any old business waste computers that you can gut and rebuild any way you like to make a beast of a router if you want.

You do understand, that AI doesn’t need to be run in data centers. Much less water cooled ones right? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that anyone showing an interest in AI is for or defending the broligarchs. In fact I would wager that most of them are just as against them if not more so than even you.

You as a complete novice could download Jan or comfy ui and run both on your PC. I would never use any of them as final output, or ever trust them. But I will say that feeding a list of data into a model in Jan and having it format and annotate it, barring necessary corrections can be useful. Not a replacement for people, but a useful tool.

No one but the oligarchs and their lackey’s want to see it implemented as they are currently implementing it.

GNOME is not meant to be customized. Don’t even try. If your concept of customization goes beyond adding a panel in a different spot. It’s truly asking for grief. Their add-ons/plugins are fairly neat with all the different languages they can be written in etc. But with all the breaking changes that are constantly being done to the API you never know if they’ll be functioning in the next week. It’s part of why pop started Cosmic in the first place. The GNOME team would regularly roll breaking changes with minor point releases.

I used to get that as well but that was largely due to NVIDIA drivers. Either have to get a tty on the local machine or SSH into it and do a reset. But I haven’t had so much as a peep out of that machine since the Nvsync or Ntsync or whatever it was got merged. I had it happen outside of KDE as well.

I remember when KDE first rolled out plasma and the shit show it started out as. That’s when GNOME really blew up. But since the late 5.X and especially 6.5-6 its been solid. They broke off with a lot of those old abandoned themes etc with the 6.X series as well. That would often fail to function and shit the desktop. I haven’t encountered anything like that in the 6.X repos. My biggest gripe with any of them currently is the deskbar macos style that’s poorly exposed and configured. But comes by default from a few distro like garuda. And predictably isn’t consistent. When it works it’s nice. When it doesn’t it’s confusing.

He chooses pop over and over again at the worst times. The beta of cosmic was buggy for his use. And he installed it in the middle of a lanparty no less. That said. He eventually switched to mint same as Luke I think. Luke who has also been using, by the way. And he and Luke have had pretty positive things to say this time. Between windows actively going to shit and Linux continuing to chug along and improve.
