CNN still couldn’t help but blame random Obama comments as the cause of trump’s rise, as if “the heartland” had no choice but to elect a child rapist because Obama ate Dijon mustard. They had a choice. The heartland supports child rape.

That might work with mid level managers but my experience has been that when the more senior folks do try to do this (for whatever reason) they are so overwhelmed by their own reality distortion they think they did a good job. I mean they don’t have to deal with the consequences of their poor choices ever, so why worry about a concept or design being bad.
Apparently it’s a legacy of nepotism. Someone in 1958 was working for daddy and wanted to celebrate daddy on daddy’s birthday for being such a good boss. Thanks daddy.

Sounds like you got someone with experience in hardware. They’re all about just shitting a date on paper.
The key to good PMs seems to be that they will make up the fake schedule without even talking to you. The schedule will be made up either way, so if they can not bother me that’s a ok.

I assure you, Amtrak isn’t good. There’s only one stretch near me where it’s faster to train than drive, and Amtrak makes the price about 8x the cost of driving (or 32x if you have passengers)
