  • What’s functionally stopping you from living on a commune on an empty dot on a map or a deserted island and making your dream of no government a reality with your peers?

the fact that under private property there is no such thing as an empty dot or a deserted island, capitalism is a totalising system and is practically inescapable but can be eroded, and that our politics as leftists are not just a vehicle for our own individual self-actualisation but about the liberation of all people?

a bunch of ‘leftists’ LARPing on an island are not leftists if they can afford to live on an island together and isolate themselves from the rest of the world.

  • it’s more like a ‘democrat’ saying ‘if you don’t spend the next 6 months shoving shit in people’s faces, we’ll force everyone to eat raw sewage for the next 4 years.’ then when they get into office, some things stay exactly the same, and others get substantially worse. to everyone except the business tyrant and the white median they offer nothing new, and they’re both the same shit to anyone from the Global South. they’re the controlled opposition of the two faces of capital.

SStatesians should do better, and that starts by organising communities and platforms which force real (material) changes at the local level, and which can combine to resist the bourgeois state trying to reassert itself, which requires a capacity for (counter)violence.

the only incentive for either party to adopt a particular program is the threat of losing (a chance at) power, but that clearly hasn’t fucking stopped them as far as the loss of votes is concerned.
