Technology@lemmy.world•Windows users keep losing files to OneDrive, and many don't know why
128·9 days agoHa, shows you right.
God, people, just get yourselves flash drives or an external drive. Cloud storage is dumb.
You could make either of those options last through your entire lifetime if you care for them properly. But I guess people enjoy the idea of going “huh?” whenever files mysteriously disappear from cloud storage.

Technology@lemmy.world•Discord in discussions of going Public Trading, economics expert discusses how that might change things
10·10 days agoWell the developers, like all techbros, have been sweetening up Discord to what it is. Once they find a pretty buyer, they’ll sell it for top dollar. That’s the real completion cycle of enshittification. Some private firm will have it or someone like Microsoft may have it and do to it like they’ve done with Skype.

5·10 days agoIt’s been enshittifying for a while now.
Who the hell would pay $12 for some fancy profile template? Who’d pay $6 just for an animated thing that revolves around your profile picture? Half of that garbage obstructs your profile.
Not even subscribing to their $10 Nitro deal is worth it. Wow, you get to have a poor selection of ways to display your name. Maybe if a server you really love to be in was active and could take advantage of some of the things advertised, probably might be worth it. But a lot of the time, I’m in servers that don’t so I don’t see a point.

4·11 days agoI could make a killing just selling off ideas and inventions if I put the effort to jotting the documentation and making the blueprints. All the while these smart people used trial and error and sometimes accidents to make up their shit.

If anything, the red states will be stupid enough to listen, probably. The blue states will still vote and effectively will shoot the Republicans in the foot.
Republicans talk big game and are cunning, but not the brightest people in power.

71·13 days agoYup. They have an AI Art Generator called ‘Dream Up’ and it does exactly what you think it does.
So you can just make an account now, not caring about actually drawing or rendering anything, but you can just generate art. It’s crazy.

58·13 days agoThey’ve committed themselves to AI art, that’s how dead it is.
I remembered fond memories predating that period though. The chat room community was at once, very large. The chats still in fact exist, though, they’ve really tucked them away in a corner. Still have friends from there, still have seen so much talent come through there.
But you won’t ever tell anymore what AI is and what AI isn’t, because they’ve welcomed AI with open arms for a while. DeviantArt has truly backstabbed so many artists, without a care.
Oh and their logo is stupid as shit, looks more like an X than DA.

511·13 days agoFor this dumbass to accomplish this, he would have to re-write the entire constitution. He would have to tirelessly broadcast his dumb message to all offices across the United States and be like “hey uh, republicans are kinda losing in some areas and it made me poopy me diaper some, so i’m cancelling mid-terms, you okay with this bruh?”
In otherwords, he can’t. He can and will try. But he can’t. Unless he wants to start yet another insurrection even as president.

Technology@lemmy.world•Speed test pits six generations of Windows against each other — Windows 11 placed dead last across most benchmarks, 8.1 emerges as unexpected winner in this unscientific comparison
116·15 days agoWindows 11 a newcomer?
Dude it’s already like 5-ish years old.
Also, I’m going to be very technical here and I don’t care if people hate it. But Windows 10 and 11 both outpaced XP and I believe that once the OS reaches a user login, that still counts as the OS as booted up.
Other than that, yeah it’s really a no-brainer why Windows 11 lost in just about every category except the boot sequence, save being behind 8.1
