It takes longer than 10 minutes just to dry my hair properly
If you’ve ever had long hair, and lived in a place with hard water, you would not be asking this question.
Enjoying the warmth mostly
That and it works wonders on my sore muscles
Same vibe:
People who go on beach vacation for a week, what are you doing there? I can undress, have a swim, get sand into my crotch and a sunburn on my shoulder in less than an hour. WHAT ARE YOU DOING
At least for me, I’m in the water snorkeling, scuba diving, or boogey boarding
Idk about the people who just simply lounge on the beach though, sounds boring
I keep forgetting that not all beaches are cold and rocky like the ones in my area. This is what going to the beach is like for me, haha.
Usually staring blankly at the wall, hoping the shower will somehow rinse some grime off my brain too.
I just crank my hog.
Well, that too.
AROOOOOOOO DON’T CLOG THE DRAIN BROTHER!!!
Shooting water from my fingertips like the awesome aqua wizard that I am
I thought I was the only one
Apparently there’s at least 3 of us.
yeah, 4.
Count me in as the fifth
My brothers!
Let’s form a wizard school
Aqua Sorceress checking in.
It’s not a fucking speedrun homie. This isn’t shower any%. I’m usually listening to music and enjoying the hot water. Plus if it’s a wash day, washing and conditioning long hair takes a while.

Hey you let my poor adhd brain ruminate in scalding hot peace
ITT: People with legitimate reasons for long showers.
Me over here: Just because I want to. It feels good. I’m paying the bill and I’ll stay in it as long as I’d like. I think, I daydream, I warm up on cold mornings, I cool off after long hot days, I listen to music or sing along while a warm rain dances its way to the drain. I can, and often do, shower and dress in 10 minutes, but I’m an adult damnit and if have the time and the desire I’m gonna hang out and sway gently while the steam fills the shower.
Fifteen year olds: Masturbating. Lots of masturbating.
Fifteen year olds: Masturbating. Lots of masturbating.
Also people older than 15. Significantly older. It’s a safe place in there.
Yes. This is me-time in a standing-up bath before or after facing the day as an adult with responsibilities.
Its warm and I dissociated.
I can do it in 5 min but why? It’s relaxing. My brain can wander. It’s warm.
Debug my code
Plan new code
Like, where else would you do that?
LOL so this happens so often it’s a running joke now but my son told me this story yesterday (first time it happened to him but knows about it from me) and I almost got teary eyed hahahaha
Most offices around here have a changing room with a shower, mainly intended for people who bike to work or such, but what if we started using the shower more offensively in a developer capacity?
Stuck on a tricky task? Hit the shower! Team not agreeing on the pattern of the new API? Group shower! Rather than using AI and other crutches when stuck on problems, we should bring back communal showering at work, for the epiphany factor!
Sitting on the floor, letting the hot water pour over my head as sad piano music plays in the background

Just got a horrifying mental image of corporate mandated showers with waterproof notepads to boost employee productivity.
Hah, I think seeing these kind of memes on Lemmy is permeating into my sense of humor. And that this pressure that some Americans place on themselves to work on holiday is in part self-inflicted. Part of them are afraid of the repercussions for not meeting the unfair standard set by the rest who see working excessive hours as something to be proud of and a measure of how hard they work.
