There’s plenty to disagree with the nature of the projects chosen (also a key criticism in OP), and the projects that China would/could help with would be far more progressive, human, and have a futurist Canadian involvement for sustainable generations.



On the pure economic side, investment in Canada matters. The inherent assumption between the 2 choices is that money spent on Canada is good for Canada, ideally with proper returns for Canada. I would agree that money is more important than morals. But on an at least equal “mandate plane”, purpose/value/sustainability is as important as money and loser infrastructure for infrastructure/spending sake.
