He didn’t just give it lip service to get elected, he strongly supported major reforms to the entire business realm. We went from dangerous, low paying sweatshops, to the modern workplace, entirely because of FDR’s unwavering support of labor.
And Conservatives have hated him ever since, and have spent every minute since then trying to get back to the pre-FDR workplace standards.
