As a small child, when I first heard of the concept of racism, my first reaction was “they think all people of a certain race share the same brain? That’s stupid”. It’s a little more complicated than that but basically yeah, racists think people of the same race automatically share certain personality traits, which is pretty stupid. Notice how racists almost never think stereotypes about their own race are true. They know they themselves are an individual, not defined by race, but people of other races are somehow different.

But what if I’m stupid or racist? Or both?
Is it even possible to be racist and not to be stupid? I understand the concept, but in practice it always seems like a package deal.
