They’re not wrong. The new testament is pretty unambiguous on what Jesus was about, and their religion is named after the guy.

The peacenik that willingly sacrificed himself to save people. Someone that repeatedly preached tolerance, kindness to strangers, and that greed is evil. So I have absolutely no problem calling people that don’t subscribe to their guy’s teachings fake or hypocrites – especially when there’s examples of people that do follow that creed. E.g. Bob Ross, Fred Rogers, Dolly Parton, etc.
Given the fact that Americans were so obsessed with religion it’s probably necessary for any politician to pretend to be religious it doesn’t mean they actually are.
