Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has hosted a monthly Christian prayer and worship service at the Pentagon, the first since the Iran war began.

When did “cohort” start being used this way outside maybe academic/scientific settings?

I started hearing it a couple of years ago. For 40 years ago it was only ever “you and your cohorts”, more like “gang”.
