Because that’s what my mother claims and I’m not sure if that’s her distorted perspective, since I heard that doctors where I was from were currupt and would get paid money if they prescribe a certain medication, which is likely the reason why there is a huge distrust in medications amongst my family.

My mother keep citing anecdotal evidence, like how one of my relatives got diagsnosed with depression and refused to take medication and “they got over” their depression, and keeps telling me medication is bad.

We came from mainland China, btw.

Is this a thing in the US? Are doctors just as evil/corrupt?

Are their doctors in the US who do all types of fucked up shit for money? Yes there aer plenty.

A buddy of mine is a fraud investigator or State Farm and prior to that he was one for Allstate.

You would not believe the number of doctors who execute insurance fraud. Fake treatment plan billing, fake patient billing, signing off on fake injuries for automobile accidents. Amazingly, based on my freind’s experience, one of the highest paid specialities, radiologist seem to be the speciality that engages in insurance fraud the most.

You would not believe the number of doctors who are embroiled in the fentanyl and oxycodone epidemics.

Can you find doctors who have made and are making lots of money via questionably and illegally doing prescriptions, of course. When it comes to money and greed there is no nobility.

Now is there a tit for tat arrangement where pharmaceutical companies pay doctors to prescribe drugs? NO.

Is there a formal process where doctors get more money for prescribing drugs? NO.
