You should apply anyway. At least 5 of the various scholarships I got while in College/University were laid aside for someone of some demographic that I didn’t fit, but I fit the other qualifications, and I was the only one that applied. Go through the scholarship books at your local library and use the qualifications to include not exclude, you’ll get results and a free education that way.
Oh, and just to clarify I’m not Black, I’m not a Girl or Woman, I’m not Hispanic, I’m not Asian and I don’t look Native American. I got scholarships that were set aside for each of these groups because no one else applied.
That ship has sailed, I got my education a long time ago. I did have nearly perfect SATs, 1570 out of 1600 and also had sports and community service, had the 2nd highest GPA in my class of 800 coming out of high school in the San Francisco area. I could have gone anywhere, but I couldn’t get scholarships and wasn’t confident enough in what I wanted to study to take out big loans for Ivy League schools.
In retrospect I’m glad I didn’t go to an elite school. The elite are generally all terrible people.
