The “Democratic Establishment” is the chair of the DNC. And he’s a big fan of Mamdani

Well, first, it was a brilliant campaign. And there’s a lot of lessons.
One is, he campaigned for something. And this is a critical piece. We can’t just be in a perpetual state of resisting Donald Trump. Of course, we have to resist Donald Trump. There’s no doubt about it for all the reasons we just talked about. But we also have to give people a sense of what we’re for, what the Democratic Party is fighting for, and what we would do if they put us back in power.
And that’s really critical. And I think that’s one of the lessons from Mamdani’s campaign, is that he focused on affordability. He focused on a message that was resonant with voters, and he campaigned for something, not against other people or against other things. He campaigned on a vision of how he was going to make New York City a better place to live.
I think that’s one of the lessons. The other lessons, of course, is the tactics he used to get his message out, both a very aggressive in-person campaigning, meeting voters where they’re at, and then also in those digital spaces, using very creative messaging to cut through the noise and to get to voters in an inexpensive but authentic way.
There’s a lot to learn from that campaign, and I’m excited to learn more.

No? The party apparatus and the party establishment are, in fact, different things. As long as the neolibs are the face of the party, and until they fuck off to the other side of the moon, they’re the party establishment. They’re the people who actually run policy and have clout with the electorate. DNC leadership can affect the composition of the establishment through its control of funding, but it’s not the establishment.
I mean, the DNC chair is part of the establishment. You’ve also got folks like governors and the heads in the House and Senate.
So it would be more accurate to say that it’s some of the DNC rather than the implicit “all” in that sentence.
And the “establishment” in the Democratic Party is the power players like Schumer and Pelosi, the DNC chair answers to them. That he is positive about Mamdani and is still allowed to be the DNC chair says more about his lack of real power than the actual stance of the party.

You know that right? The voting members of the DNC (who had just elected Hoag and Martin) voted to redo the election because the prior DNC didn’t follow election rules.
Do you know why Hoag didn’t run again? Because he would have won.
He had been loudly saying for months he didn’t expect to win and wanted to do a PAC instead. So when he got a way to dip out, he did it and made a huge scene to boost the PAC he said he’s going to start.

What election has happened since Martin be ame chair besides Mamdani’s primary? Who was more progressive than Mamdani that you wanted him to support?
