In a Rambo movie, its cool as hell.

IRL, I’ve got a few WW2-era relatives who will tell you how fucking hard it is to take a life for the first time. Even setting aside the consequences of doing what is going to be immediately flagged as first degree murder, it cannot be properly expressed how horrible the act of killing another person is for the human soul.

Well… the first 3/4ths of the first Rambo movie.

The back end is just “What do we do with the rest of our demolitions budget?”

This is the difference between someone who wants to use their gun defensively and someone who just wants an excuse to murder people.

You don’t unholster your gun unless you’re prepared to take a life. You pray you never have to.

But there are just too many people who are thirsty to take a life and that should worry all of us.

Even hunting takes something out of you. It’s a feeling not like another to take a life, and not a good feeling at all.

This isn’t a discussion about the horrors of war but the emotional damage of killing someone else. Please stay on topic.

The context is you sound like a child who has no idea of the social political or mental consequences what they are talking about. Adults are trying to tell you that your bravado is foolish and that your casual dehumanization of your political enemies is the exact outcome they want. Fuck your juvenile accelerationism.

There are ways to stand up as a community and lock arms defensively. You are advocating for offensive actions. That will merit immediate harsh reprisals towards you and anyone that holds tangentially related political beliefs.

Do not confuse me for someone saying don’t fight back,

There’s a reason why John fucking Brown is the real Jesus Christ. He’d fucking blow up the damn white house at this point.

If John Brown were Jesus Christ, then presumably his body wouldn’t lie mouldering in the grave.

But either way, we can assume that his soul goes marching on.

I mean, “paranoid geriatric fascist serial killer performs home invasion in an attempt to murder a baby” describes a JK Rowling character and your choice of IDF or ICE officer equally well.

When it’s a good writer writing them and not a transphobic moron, then they make perfect sense.

I’m not certain of any specific usages of the word that predate Harry, but the general concept of a spirit vessel that saves mortality is not terribly new nor unique. Generally speaking, a spirit needs to have all connections with a mortal plane severed in order to move on. A spirit vessel like a horcrux is merely a separate attachment to ‘this’ world that can be separated and protected. Having more than one is also not terribly unique.

If Dipshit Transphobe were anywhere near a good writer, this could’ve been a big point as to why Voldyboi was an idiot for doing it, because it’d basically be cursing himself to have a near permanent connection to the mortal plane, especially with how scattered he made his crap, making his existence torture on the best of days… like a lich posessing objects, it shouldn’t be easy nor kind to the user.

Though since she’s an utterly shit writer, it only amounted to, “oh boy, he’s hard to permanently kill!”.

Right. The vague concept existed before in many different forms. She put hircruxes in her books and made them a thing that people understood. I’m not saying she’s a great writer, but she clearly appealed to a lot of people with her writing, and not just kids. Her stories at least had decent morals. I’m not defending any of her anti-trans crap, but her Harry Potter fiction is a separate thing.

Eehhhhhhh personally I think it’d depend greatly on who it was.

Some poor sap drafted or otherwise forced to fight against me for someone else’s cause? Yea, that’s going to suck.

Choking out some loser who fantasizes about being hitler in 2025? Yea, I’ll sleep like a baby that night.

While a German soldier in ww2 could go either way, some fascie piece of shit cosplaying in the US has no obligation to be such a piece of shit and has thusly chosen that path. Such a mfer who chooses to be that vile? Yea, remorse isn’t entering the equation.
