I don’t know if they were always like this, but they’ve really gotten dumber over the years. Like the ai coke ad or the Gillette ad that implied if you have a beard you’re an awful person.
With economies of scale you end up with basically one producer producing stuff for incredibly cheap. Take poultry for example, Tyson is like the only name you’ll see at major retailers. Even most store brands are just relabeled Tyson product. So it really doesn’t matter to them if they get a couple people sick, cause we’re else you gunna go? Blackbird farms, and pay $38 a chicken? Not the very large majority of price sensitive people living paycheck to paycheck.
We generally presume companies will choose not to do that to their own reputations, but apparently that presumption was wrong.
