Mamdani showed that when people show up to the primaries, they get better candidates, and when they then show up to the general, those better candidates can win. Mamdani is something different than the past, and he got there by votes. It’s not ridiculous to believe in something you watched happen.
The problem with your argument is that it’s unfalsifiable. When the lesser evil wins, you don’t see how much worse the greater evil would have been. What if just a few more left-leaning Floridians had voted in 2000 and Al Gore had won? You think climate change would be this bad? You think we would’ve gone into Iraq and Afghanistan? You think we would’ve gotten Trump and Project 2025? It’s a perfect example of your strategy directly leading to what we have today.
You do realize that they could just drop the pretence of democracy and install a dictator if they do not get their way right? The CIA has been evading congress oversight for years.
