When I was a kid in a southern US public school back in the 1980’s and 1990’s, I would have killed for a banana. I think peas were an option once.

There was an idea to make school lunches “healthier” to push weight loss by dumb politicians and the result was worse than the prison food served before. I’ll take the prison food any day over the “healthy” lunches I had when I worked in education, lunch duty so may as well eat something then since you get maybe 15 minutes to eat on lunch break, I would drink a pot of coffee a day lol.
I really felt bad for the kids, and I can say it probably contributed to behavioral issues. I worked 12 hour+ days some of these kids where there that long for the after school program.

Thats because rowling was writing a story about maintaining the status quo. Its interesting just how much she wrote overtly class conscious inequality, like wizards being an isolated superior class who can act with impunity on muggles, but then hand waves it as appropriate and good because the alternative is “bad”.

And my expectation is that people who are pirating tend to be more willing to wait for a few days on a torrent than they are to pay for a shitty movie.
Imo nobody should download or watch the movie regardless, it’d be better if the whole thing just got removed from the public conscience. So I say don’t contribute in any way to helping people keep the garbage alive. If you truly must watch it yourself you should do it alone in a dark room with a pirated copy in shame and erase any traces of this asap (again, in my opinion).

The movie producers suck so bad they can’t be bothered, or don’t trust themselves, to find new movies, despite more good ideas than you can shake a stick at, and instead remake already popular movies again paying obsceme amounts of money to big name actors and using flashy new computer graphics.
Hollywood has sucked my entire life, I understand many of you don’t realize how true that is, but they have gotten a lot worse with consolidation, It’s down to 3 or 4 studios now, 3 with each around 25%, including Paramount now. It’s going to get a lot worse.
Not just movies. I recently noticed that a lot of games are getting remasters for a quick buck. I intended to play the whole Atelier Ryza series after I got the first one pretty cheap, but they delisted the original series (2019, 2020, and 2023) to sell the remaster at a higher price. I don’t know how old I want something to be before it’s redone, but it’s got to be longer than that.
Oh yeah, it’s been a while but I was playing Total War games a lot like a decade back. I had Rome with Barbarian Invasion expansion pack. They released medieval total war after rome at one point, quality as well. Then released an Alexander which was just cheaply ripping rome onto alexander without much detail or effort.
Then Empire total war, which should’ve been the best, and it sucked in some ways, it was clear Sega rushed the developers and forced a product that wasn’t done yet. Then instead of fixing it or continuing on through history as they had done, to WWI I would presume would be next, they remade Rome Total War again.
Maybe that’s not the best example, as Rome could’ve been improved though not sure how the new one was. But the corporate bosses were clearly stepping on their very capable and knowledgeable and witty developers to just rip a few changes to existing games to sell again.
It used to be that remakes would be taking advantage of new technology. Like silent films remade with sound or black and white redone in color.
Now, advancements are incremental and often look worse than what we used to have. All these remakes are just studios trying to monetize their existing IP.
