Backlash to the ad
One of the most widely shared reactions to the ad on X came from political commentator The Shumater, who wrote: “This wildly offensive ad from Gov. Sanders features anti-trans tropes equivalent to parodying African-Americans with blackface. Hate isn’t funny. Punching down isn’t Christian. And she’s “prevented” nothing; no trans girl has ever tried to play sports in Arkansas.”
I do live in the Jackson Hole area, but please don’t believe most of the current Internet narrative. I bought my house (not apartment) in 2017 for $210k. That’s far from billionaire territory. After COVID prices exploded, but up until 2019, you could find homes. The problem was finding work that could afford for that home.
The point is that most of those billionaires either don’t spend much time here, or live here and blend in with us locals because they don’t want to be bothered and just want to have a drink in peace.
As far as Facebook is concerned, I wish we had an alternative. That said, these neighborhood groups and the like is how FB should have been. Just people sharing wildlife sightings, this week’s fresh tamales offering, used bikes, free DnD one shots at the library, etc.
PS: Teton county is blue and quite progressive. The rest of the state though…
