Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flew over Greece, Italy, France and Canada on Thursday on his way to address the UN, despite an International Criminal Court warrant for his arrest.

The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Gaza since October 2023.

Netanyahu arrived in the US for a short visit to address the UN General Assembly in New York, where Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he does not have the authority to arrest the Israeli leader.

It makes sense. The guy running (destroying) the USA would probably invade them if they took action.

Apparently, AIPAC has control over these countries’ politicians

I think it’s more that they’re all on the same imperialist team, that Israel is a partner in crime.

Coming from reddit, it’s interesting to see a world news forum that isn’t entirely and totally captured by Israeli Hasbara mods. I got banned from reddit’s /worldnews for pointing out that “invade Iran” vs “let Iran have nukes” is an asinine false dichotomy. (And I didn’t even use the word “asinine.”)

I think any country that allows things like this should get ignored by the ICC for any criminals that they want to have arrested. France looking for a criminal that stole stuff from the Louvre or something? Nah, ask someone else.

France (and the rest of capitalist core) is already ignored by ICC. Reading many comments in this thread i see that people seems to have many misconceptions concerning purpose and scale of ICC. In fact, it is not chasing burglars, but it is the colonial court for Africa and the scale of its activities are kinda pathetic since the number of indicted are not many and many of them were not even arrested and judged.

ICC only had its five minutes when it accused Putin (enthusiastically supported by all the countries that now ignore its accusation against Netanyahu) and now Netanyahu.

        1. Colonize Africa, appropriating its land and people.
        2. Stop colonization, but never pay African countries back for it in any noticeable capacity.
        3. Force African countries to join the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, both of which strongly prioritize rich countries’ interests.
        4. Now they’re not colonies, but they still have to work like slaves to pay off unfair debts.
        5. Force them to join the ICC, which, among other activities, punishes mostly African government officials for forced labour in their countries, without which they would not be able to pay off debts to rich countries.

This is the West, the one that is supposedly peaceful, democratic, and wants to build a rule-based world order. Yep, checks out.

I hate to say I told you so, but I earlier this week I said the ICC a neocolonial imperialist institution employs selective justice. Turns out the .today and .worlders were wrong again.

Because US have in law that they can use military force, if them or their allies are put before the ICC.

The Western imperialist rules-based order is the same as it ever was: they make up the rules and order everyone else around.

I know I’ve been posting this a lot but not only is the US not a member of the ICC, but the president is permitted to “all means necessary and appropriate” to free any covered US person or covered allied person if they are arrested. Israel is one of the countries explicitly listed as covered, and the definition of covered includes government officials.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Service-Members'_Protection_Act

France has said they consider heads of states that are not signatories to the treaty to have diplomatic immunity, despite the ICC having jurisdiction over Palestine (who is a signatory).

I haven’t heard excuses from the other countries 🕵️‍♀️

I was tricked by an ad into thinking I was done the article 🤦‍♀️. Lots of great info, answering questions I didn’t know I had!

As far as I know, this really was a position France stated two years ago in 2024.

The only takeaway is that when Israel said the ICC is only for African and Arab leaders and not for Western countries and colonies, they were completely right.

The ICC and ICJ are useless Western colonialist institutions which should be dismantled ASAP. Trump is doing the rest of the world a favor by destroying the farce.

No, I won’t agree with the ICC and ICJ being destroyed because it’s exactly what authoritarianism and imperialists want. It should be empowered, not destroyed.

I highlight this law not to make comment on the value of the ICC, but to point out that the current admin is just joining 24 years of opposition to it.

Yes I’m sure the blue team would do something about all those war crimes, just like they did when they were in office.

it’s mind boggling to know that the blue team will still continue on insisting that they’re better than the red team when it comes to war crimes as if it mattered.

To young for the Milosevic trial?
They try hard to erase it from the web but if you can find it it’s a glorious piece of theatre.
The pompous Brit judge in his silly costume and wig trying his best to pretend it’s not a kangaroo court.
Yet having to intervene and stop Milosevic (doing his own defense) every 5 minutes when he cornered a ‘witness’ and exposed their lies. “we will continue behind closed doors for this part” LOL You should watch it, better than any Hollywood court drama.
