In the bathroom in general, I can understand. Even without a fan, the steam rarely reaches countertop height, so putting it on the countertop or the lid of the toilet or something else low still makes sense if you are in the shower.

My issue lies in having it IN the shower, and having it taking the moisture straight in the teeth. Like… why?? It’s not like it is impossible to hear from next to the shower, well out of the way of said moisture.
