I can only speak from experience but basically what I wrote. Teacher gives kids something to do, we all wait in silence for slowest kid to finish, zone out a bit during the teacher’s monologues and go home at some point. I don’t know what relevance friends have since there’s barely any moment you’re allowed to interact during school hours
