You have to work a little bit harder at them today, but they can still be found.
Dog parks were my favorite place to interact with regulars back when I had a dog. Met lots of good friends and neighbors that way.
Volunteering can be great, too. I sometimes sign up for cooking/prep shifts at a local kitchen that feeds the community, and it’s an easy way to hang out with like minded people.
Independent bookstores and libraries are still around, too. They’re obviously more common in densely populated urban areas, but if you have them around you they can be great.

Just non-negotiable moral compasses in general. “Yeah, he’s obviously an obnoxious racist, chauvinist, paedophile, warmongering, corrupt fascist pig, but have you seen the Dow lately?”
I mean I grew up with that being told my grandparents were from another time and that’s why I couldn’t bring black friends around when he was there.
The thing they didn’t teach is what leads to nazism and how to defeat it. Makes you wonder if that was on purpose…
I think it’s because what defeated them was violence and “violence is bad”. Because the problem of nazism definitely could’ve been solved diplomatically… >.>
And what caused it to rise was mass economic struggle of the working class.
