Pete Hegseth has ordered National Guard members patrolling the streets of Washington, DC, to begin carrying their service weapons as they fulfill Donald Trump’s crime crackdown in the nation’s capital, according to a US defense official.

The directive from Hegseth represents a notable shift in guidance from the Pentagon, which had previously indicated that National Guard members could be armed if the circumstances warranted, and suggests hundreds of guard troops deployed in DC will soon be carrying weapons despite serving in a support role.

It’s just absurd to consider that a volunteer would accept military life, military camps, hostile foreign countries, getting shot at by old men fighting for arbitrary ideals in a far away land… and they (pretend to?) agonize over morals…

This is just national guards but still. There’s a lot of people that are willing to kill people to protect our freedoms.

But there’s a conspicuous lack of soldiers fighting and dying for our freedoms when it’s clear as day. Whoops! There goes basically their only justification.
