Take the small one and save energy (if not frying). It doesnt take much longer and the pot uses the energy more efficiently Edit: nm dont do that if the water is not yet boiling

It in fact takes 2-3 times longer to get the water boiling in the pot on the smaller one for me. Rather change out the gas container a bit more often. Though I’m planning to just remodel the kitchen to get rid of the gas now and go induction. The gas range is slightly newer, but the furniture is 40 years old so I’d rather go new and integrated.

I know, I want it so bad already. I have a tiny portable induction stove so when I ran out of gas recently I started using that and the oldschool electric “burner” on my gas stove and it’s been fine, I couldn’t handle more than two hobs at the same time, but the induction literally feels faster even than the big burner on the gas, whereas the normal electric one is agonizingly slow to get things hot.

I also have a house built in the 1980s. In the former Soviet Union. Building code wasn’t really a thing for single family homes, so obviously we don’t have a hood. Or even anywhere to connect the hood so it could vent outside. Meaning I’ve been inhaling big beautiful CO2 for all my life from the gas, but also I’m thinking if I get rid of the gas then perhaps I could get by with a ventless hood, otherwise I’ll have to drill a hole in the wall to get a proper vented hood.

I currebtly reside in a yugoslavian 1960s built house so yeah I get you. Except it does have a hole for the hold it just is not cpnnected because the apartment owner decided to put the stove in a different spot when renovating the kitchen…

If the burner sticks out from under the pot that’s a bunch of heat going not into the pot.

Yeah my comment was random and while im thinking through it… i didnt take the waste heat at the pot surface area over the longer time into account so im also wrong But use the small one when the liquid is already cooking :)
