Patrick Stewart is Jesus?
I get it, it’s a shitpost, but the US choosing a slightly less fascistic government halfway through the orange shitstain’s second attempt to turn the US into his technofeudal fiefdom isn’t really “fixing all the problems”…
It’s a VERY small step in the right direction, and the first step of a VERY long road.
That wasn’t a small step. That was about the biggest step that could have happened.
When I’m looking at a boy bleeding out from a racist crowd shooting at him, “A paramedic showed up to the scene instead of skipping work” is the best thing that could have happened but it’s not a moment of celebration yet.
It was the biggest step that could have happened and it was a small first step.
Earl gray. Hot. While watching the Epstein criminal class tried and convicted. Whole human trafficking and drug smuggling operations being exposed and brought down. A sliver of Justice. Make it so, oh please gods of trek and beyond.
Americans really need to get over themselves.
We gotta keep on fighting! For Jean-Luc!
If you live in the US, email your local senator and tell them how happy you are about Abdul’s win, and how you hope they’ll follow Abdul’s example. Tell them what issues you care about, and what sorts of things would cost them your vote.
Tell em Shumer and Jeffries gotta go.
Yeah, let’s not count our chickens just yet on world events. Though I’d love to hope you’re right.
There are four chickens
Hope is free and doesn’t hurt anything. You should always have hope.
Hope is the motivation killer. Hope is what encourages people to post memes rather than take action. Hope is relying on others to achieve your goals for you. Replace it with expectation based on deliberate action.
You just sound miserable to me. Without hope no revolution will succeed.
Perhaps you and I mean something different by “hope”, but a revolution doesn’t succeed on hope, it succeeds on determined action towards the desired goal. By all means keep that goal in mind, but, unless you are actively working towards it, you are just relying on others to achieve it for you, and if you are working towards it, then it’s not hope, it’s expectation, and that’s a very differentn and far more positive, thing.
US is moving a fuck ton of kit around in the middle east and Europe. This isn’t over.
Where did I say it was?
“Oh God no, I never hope. Hope is pouting in advance. Hope is faith’s richer, bitchier sister. Hope is the deformed attic bound incest monster offspring of entitlement and fear.” -Frankie Dart
I don’t know who Frankie Dart is, but if you think there needs to be some sort of revolution you’d better have some hope.
Hope makes people believe lies and propaganda. Hope can make people docile when things need to actively be changed. Hope is poison to reality when it motivates you to do less.
When people decide things need to actively be changed, they’d better have hope. Otherwise they’ll give up the minute things don’t go their way.
Doomer! /s
Jokes aside, there’s a non-zero chance his death, and the values he portrayed as Captain Picard, influenced voters.
We changed the name of our first shuttle from Constitution to Enterprise because of Trekkies writing in, it absolutely has an influence and we could really use more of Jean-Luc’s resolve and Sir Patrick’s kindness these days.
Now how do we fix the curse of Al Gore’s loss and the hanging chads?
The Hung Chads is the name of my in no way homosexual glam rock band
We have to go back and get Nader interested in growing flowers or something.
Careful, we thought it was fixed in 2020 when Biden won.
I absolutely did not. If we elect another corporate centrist, then he’ll be followed by another fascist.
President Newsom, followed by President…honestly, after Trump sucking all of the oxygen out of the room for the Republicans for 12 years, I’m not sure who’d be able to take his place.
EDIT: Apparently, Newsom is no longer considered a frontrunner for the nomination. Good!
He would, too.
The goal was to fix the oops in 2012, but something’s better than nothing.
Everyone always cites Harambe in 2016 as the event where everything started to go wrong… But did anything else relevant happen in 2016?
Harambe was in May, the elections were the result of the curse.
The bad news - that mess was already being played out before 2016 started. Both the overall plan by the GOP laid out decades before, and the media’s weird courting of Trump as a valid candidate. The GOP saw their chance and ran with it, and the obedient media followed their lead, just as they had been trained.
Which oops in 2012?
New Mayan cycle. Or something. They made a movie and everything.
Oh, well we’d have to go back pretty far to change the Mayan calendar.
Tuesday? Or worse, two Tuesdays ago?
Are you citing Last Tuesdayism? It’s really hard to tell if that’s true either.
I only wish he lived long enough to see the blue wave surge across the nation.
Yeah, “the” nation, as a Britishman.
Our lord and savior who died to redeem humanity! Here here!
