I’ve said for decades now, in various formats - “no Republican should be allowed into office, on any level”.
I would invariably get asked by some Confederate about how much that offends them, because argle bargle freedom and democracy, etc.
My response? What, We, The People don’t get to vote on whether they should be permitted into office? These politicians work for US, not the other way around. They are the job applicants, and WE are deciding whether they should be allowed to have the job. They would try to gaslight and pretend I was saying something else, etc.
But that’s just it: they don’t think We, The People should have a say. That’s at the very foundation of movement conservatism. They are elitists and they think special people should be ruling over us, all of them deeply radically right wing. They don’t think we should be able to gate-keep their politicians from getting into power in the first place.
