Well, they were cancelled in the sense that it wasn’t socially acceptable to be blatantly racist and there were often consequences if you were. Several right wing celebrities were “cancelled” for racist things in their past. Like the butter woman from the cooking shows.
Anyone in an “at-will” state can be fired for literally any reason except a very narrow set of reasons, so…I don’t think an employer making a choice about a toxic personality makes any of these people victims.
If these people cannot stop themselves from saying and doing some of the very worst things, that’s on them and they basically cancelled themselves. Just like employees that pop off and insult the boss…
I don’t hear people that got fired for screaming at their boss and got fired for it “getting cancelled”.
It’s not like they went anywhere - they are still walking around, free as a bird, and many of them even still have a platform to have millions hang on their every word…it’s not like some Big Bad Deep State Actor colluded to fire them from a show or ban them from a platform just because they don’t think Terms of Service apply to them.

Cancelling is when society decides a behavior is unacceptable acceptable and imposes consequences for behaving in that manner.
