Much of its rejected proposals were ultimately recycled as the USAPATRIOT Act of 2001 with Joe Biden’s vocal endorsement.
Meanwhile, the right wing was never really “cancelled”, ever, despite all their bitching about it, and all conservative activism and free speech will be juuuuust fine under any crackdown.
But some of them got stern talkings-to for making racist, homophobic, and/or misogynistic remarks. That’s basically being cancelled.
Just ask Dave Chappelle. In his next multimillion dollar Netflix special.

Well, they were cancelled in the sense that it wasn’t socially acceptable to be blatantly racist and there were often consequences if you were. Several right wing celebrities were “cancelled” for racist things in their past. Like the butter woman from the cooking shows.
Anyone in an “at-will” state can be fired for literally any reason except a very narrow set of reasons, so…I don’t think an employer making a choice about a toxic personality makes any of these people victims.
If these people cannot stop themselves from saying and doing some of the very worst things, that’s on them and they basically cancelled themselves. Just like employees that pop off and insult the boss…

Cancelling is when society decides a behavior is unacceptable acceptable and imposes consequences for behaving in that manner.
I don’t hear people that got fired for screaming at their boss and got fired for it “getting cancelled”.
It’s not like they went anywhere - they are still walking around, free as a bird, and many of them even still have a platform to have millions hang on their every word…it’s not like some Big Bad Deep State Actor colluded to fire them from a show or ban them from a platform just because they don’t think Terms of Service apply to them.
When peaceful protest is made impossible, then violent resistance becomes inevitable. The very laws extending the classification of what constitutes a terrorist organization or terroristic acts is exactly why I support violent action against oppressive regimes.
Killing your masters has never and will never be legal, but it’s very easy to morally justify.
What happens if trump has all Democrats declared a terrorist organization? He’s got the courts and justice department…
