Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent promoted the idea of the province of Alberta voting to exit Canada as his boss lusts for U.S. expansion.
The top Trump officials leaned into “rumors” during an interview on the right-wing streaming channel Real America’s Voice.
“Alberta’s a natural partner for the U.S. They have great resources. The Albertans are very independent people,” Bessent said. “Rumor is they may have a referendum on whether they want to stay in Canada or not.”

EVs in general, as they are now, aren’t a good long term investment. After six years they’ll need a new battery that will cost more than the car is worth, unless there’s some leap forward in battery manufacturing.
My 2013 Leaf would like a word but it’s too busy hauling me around town.
There is a lot of misinformation on EVs out there.
Current generation EV batteries are likely good for 500,000 km or more.
But yes, battery tech is improving including some likely big price drops in the medium term. Sodium Ion is going to be a massive leap forward.
But even current EV battery packs do not cost anything close to the price of a new electric car. Replacing the battery packs and getting another 10 years out of a car is already worth it.
The biggest issue is that the tech is improving and prices are dropping. So, you will not want your old car.
Better to lease for the next few years while things mature.
Mine is 7 years old and the battery doesn’t need to be replaced. Where did you hear something so stupid from?
Ya. That would mean 2020 Teslas, using far worse tech than what ships today, would all need new batteries.
My local listings are hurting with Teslas as old as 2015 with original batteries. There are listings for 2013 that do say the batteries were replaced.
