Because the people there are united on the most superficial level, which means not at all. The only things that can build a civilization are shared base values and ideology, the rest won’t cut it. But a certain group of people seem to really like their ethnostates, maybe because they don’t have the appropriate values and ideology to build something meaningful, prosocial and long-lasting?
