One social media user compiled viewership statistics from across platforms, claiming the video has already amassed more than 10 million views, significantly surpassing the show’s typical television audience of around two million per episode.
In the Democratic primary, Talarico is facing Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who has drawn criticism from many Americans for her continued support of Israel despite the carnage in Gaza. She voted to send “$14B more in weapons after it had killed 34,000+ Palestinians”. Crocket visited Israel as part of a congressional trip in August of 2023.
In contrast, Talarico has been outspoken about having zero ties with the Israel-lobbying group American Israel Public Affairs Committee and has had a firm stance against sending foreign aid to Israel throughout the genocide in Gaza.
Talarico just got some of the best earned media you could ever hope for in a campaign.
Theirs to lose now.
This is probably why YouTube wasn’t online yesterday.
I hope this only helps push Talarico’s campaign further. His persona and voice doesn’t speak much to me personally, but he’s carrying such a well spoken populist campaign, discussing real issues, and responding accordingly with the nation’s outrage with ICE, and the Gaza genocide.
Crockett’s only campaign tool is reflecting on how much she’s spoken up against the regime, and how many times Trump’s insulted her personally; other than that, really nothing. She’s had no problem voting in pro Israel policy, and taking Israel lobby money by the way.
Honestly, whether I agree with him or not, it’s refreshing to have a progressive leader actually attempting to be persuasive in his campaign, rather than just “Look how bad my opponent is! I promise to do all the things you like and none of the things you don’t like, depending on what those things are and the context of the decision.”
Lmao I mean, that’s pretty much exactly what Democrats ran on in 2024.
All Trump bad. We not Trump. We same party since 2008. You vote us because we not Trump.
Have to agree here for the most part. Not every Democrat does this, but too many of them rely on it too much; especially Kamala Harris which is why she lost.
It’s exactly why she lost; neo-liberalism failed all of us and made way for the further delegitimization of international law and gave rise to fascism.
I either got ratioed because people don’t understand that this is exactly what I’m saying (you certainly do)
Or they need to wake the fuck up or get out of the way.
She was a classic 80s/90s hard on crime neoliberal at that! Nobody wants to vote for that shit anymore.
It probably does give him the name recognition that will win the primary. I also think his chances are better in the general election than Crockett.
Talarico seems a breath of fresh air. Hopefully he harnesses the backlash against Trump that feels very real in Texas these days.
Come on, outside of a few universities, no one in Texas gives a fuck about Gaza. Texas is not going to suddenly get smarter.
They may not care about Gaza, but there’s a lot of Latino Citizens in Texas that aren’t too happy about getting assaulted in the streets.
