Weird take. Gun control has been the bailiwick of Democrats for the last 30 years at least, whether the individual efforts succeeded or not.
Unless you get weaselly and say things like “2A only applies to hunting rifles or muskets and anything else is fair game, so we’re still pro 2A, technically.”
Slight correction: gun control was one of the Democrats main CAMPAINING promises for a couple decades.
Their actions over those decades have shown what their priorities are. Fundraising and losing.
