It first got distributed by a Russian news agency known for spreading AI propaganda.
Its important that just because what we’re doing is wrong, doesn’t mean Khamenei was a friend to Iranians or well liked. Iran was in the middle of a revolution that was being extremely violently repressed and that shouldn’t be whitewashed in the wake of US attacks.
Trump just did this, without any domestic approval, your point is ancillary to this discussion as Trump doesn’t give a shit about Iranians wellbeing, he is trying to empower hard right elements in Iran so Iran will correctly do its job of playing scary islamic country so US and Israeli jingoistic propaganda has a chance of fooling people.
