I really don’t think anyone subbed here is using ChatGPT, let alone paying for it, but, I agree.
So … You refuse to pay for wrong answers? What’s wrong with you? /s
literally what i needed to say. It’s kind of weird that the guardian thinks most of their readers will be, too.
The Guardian is one of the largest newspapers in the world. Their readership covers a broad spectrum of people.
My employer has a deal with chat gpt enterprise and sends out emails encouraging its use to justify paying for it. I’m sure some other’s employers do too. Good time to raise this issue there
Oh yeah, for sure. I haven’t heard about that, but I haven’t been everywhere. ;) The funny thing is, we get emails about Copilot, like they don’t know we can’t even use it. I think they just don’t care — or they’re covering their arses, and I guess work from home applies.
Whenever they ask me about doing stuff at home, I tell them I don’t have a PC. They say I’m bullshitting because they know I’m a nerd. I say I have a Mac. Which is technically a PC but it doesn’t run the same software. Then I make up shit about it being better. It’s not. I mean, Apple Intelligence is the derpy AI that Apple just has to say they have one, but I mean, your computer is mostly what you do with it and trust me, I can do all the shit we do at work, on my Mac. I just act like I can’t because they don’t know the difference.
I’d almost love it if my employer paid for AI and wanted us to use it. I wouldn’t do it. At least I wouldn’t go out of my way to do it. I don’t like Microslop, but I happily use Windows and Word and Outlook and sometimes Excel at work because I like having my bills paid. So if my job required AI, I would use it. Fortunately, I haven’t had to make that choice yet.
the government wants AI surveillance. even if every end user on the planet cancelled right now, chatgpt would still never have any money problems, because they’ll be funded by your tax dollars
to say nothing of the corporations who are still going to buy AI in order to replace…you.
So why not make it harder for them. No one has to roll out the red carpet by subscribing themselves.
For myself I’ll just keep continuing doing what I’m already doing with AI, which is turning it off everywhere it comes into my reach.
Imagine paying subscription for AI slop. I get AI slop in corpo medias for free and still it is not worth of it. Lmao
People who get psychosis generally pay for AI subscriptions, and usually it does not end well, at least in terms of their mental health issues.
They vastly overestimate the cognitive abilities of the average AI-enjoyer. The ones that I know will simply refuse tp believe that their actions have consequences. They vote right wing because they think it gives them more money, even if you show them how it gives them less.
This is how the government keeps the AI bubble intact a little while longer. OpenAI is really at the heart of the whole industry and is unbelievably in the red with no potential profitability in sight anywhere. By integrating them into the Department of War, they can now claim that OpenAI’s survival is a national security concern, and bail them out.
