Capitalist imperialism are Tankie buzzwords for the worlds largest defence pack, NATO, which they oppose.

Lol, no. That’s just a leftist thing, my man. Capitalism requires new markets to expand into, imperialism supplies that.

Imperialism isn’t just owning colonies, it’s also suppression of competition in markets already established by the empire. That’s what the invading everyone with oil that we can in 2026 is all about. It’s not just about market expansion (though that certainly can, does, and likely will happen). It’s about market domination.

And yes, imperialism is bad when it’s done by anyone, not just the west.

I don’t think anyone’s thinking about NATO in this conversation.

The oil companies outside of Russia aren’t exactly benefiting from this, rn. Exxon Mobil was the major player in the Iraqi oil fields that are now being attacked and shut down as a result of the war.

It’s more likely that this fat orange fuck is working for Russian interests than some kind of century old American cabal.

It’s an unfortunate fact that anti-“capitalist” propaganda is used by Tankies on the Fediverse and their definition of “capitalism” doesn’t include their lord and savior Xi Jinping or numerous other affiliated dictators, so yes NATO is part of this discussion.

Does the USA own Iran? Does it own Venezuela? Does it own Iraq? Does it own Vietnam?

What the USA is doing is waging war, and only because Russian and Chinese election interference put the orange asshole in power to begin with, and it’s benefiting Russia who is now able to sell its oil and gas again.

It does have great influence over Venezuela and the countries it is attacking. Ownership is not really relevant if they are the ones making decisions about what is happening in and with the country affected. Just this influence can very well be seen as an imperium. Russia is also imperialistic, China has not shown it to a great extent yet but they are moving towards a greater area of influence too.

I was thinking more recently and that they weren’t as successful and it wasn’t covered as much. I don’t have that much information so I figured it wasn’t that popular of a topic

Hong Kong and Taiwan are pretty recent, and while Tibet started a while ago they’re still pretty aggressive with tearing down temples and disappearing people.
