I agree that the amount of water and electricity these AI centers gobble up is a concern. But I don’t know what you mean by our way of life. Personally I think it’s very useful when judiciously used. It’s dangerous if NASA haphazardly tosses AI generated code into the OS for a rocket going on a moon mission. But to quickly generate a meme or YT thumbnail is harmless.
Its dangerous to our future, our ecosystem and our way of life even if the stupid things can’t think.
