Because “trump is worse!” is unhelpful. He was worse when harris was running. He was worse when clinton was running. In both cases, we got stuck with a candidate who wasn’t any good, but was at least second worst to trump.
In both cases, second worst wasn’t good enough to win, and no amount of “but trump is worse!” changed that. If we want to beat fascism, second worst to fascism by as narrow a margin as possible can’t get us there.
And taking advantage of trump being a fascist to force fash-lite on us lost. Twice.
