Though the issue has been put on the back burner in recent years, the influence of big money is still wreaking havoc on US politics. Zohran Mamdani’s grassroots-powered, publicly funded campaign for New York City mayor suggests a way out of this morass.

Issue has been put on the back burner?

it’s purposefully not being promoted by the people who are in office or who run the media. Who funds them again? Ohhhhh

Issue has been put on the back burner?

Glaringly obvious issue ignored by those with the most to gain from it. 😁

Campaign Finance and Gerrymandering. The two out of control issues that have us where we are today.

Please, don’t pay attention to DC, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands… taxation without representation because that might screw up who is in power and makes the decisions.

DNC is trying to ban it in Dem primaries:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/12/us/politics/the-dncs-new-leader-seeks-to-curb-dark-money-influence-in-2028-primaries.html

And it’s scaring off billionaire donations and encouraging small amount donations

But most importantly, they’re not hoarding it like Smaug.

The largest reinvestment from the DNC to state parties is happening as we speak. And they’re focusing on red and purple states where we can gain seats, and the past decade of DNC had been bankrupting via the victory fund.

There’s a lot of shit for progressives to be optimistic about these days, just don’t hold your breathe for billionaire owned media to tell you about it.

      From the article you linked:

Mr. Martin’s proposal notably does not attempt to address the role of super PACs or direct-but-limited contributions from corporations like those the D.N.C. accepts.

      Big caveat.

How has the issue of big money been on the back burner in recent years? Who said that this was not a problem?

The incumbent US-President is orange and doing nothing but organizing crime together with his henchmen.

How is this not an issue of big money? How is this not an issue with a very long history of corruption on the highest leveles?

99% of all elected politicians in DC plainly and obviously work for Israel, because of dozens of PAC bribes such as AIPAC, and private donors like Miriam Adelson, buying these politicians to represent Israel instead of America.

“Put on back burner” - statement dreamed up by the utterly deranged.

They may have all the money, but we hold all the power. There’s MANY MANY more of us. If we get organized, we can take them down.
